The Crooning House Husband
40s/50s music with a feminist twist.
As a vintage jazz singer and proud feminist, I love music from the 40s and 50s but HATE the deeply-rooted gender inequality of that era.
As a way to express these mixed feelings, I decided to throw a feminist twist on some of my favorite 40s/50s songs.
(twist on "The Way You Look Tonight")
The song “The Way You Look Tonight” is one of my favorite songs, but it makes it seem like woman’s looks alone can cure seasonal depression. You know what actually helps with seasonal depression? When Dr. Vanessa Patel spits some hard facts about utilizing phototherapy to reset your body’s internal clock and improve your mood.
(twist on "I've Got You Under My Skin")
I once heard that the most romantic thing a guy could do is housework. This is an anthem for that.
(twist on "My Funny Valentine")
I hate the typical dynamic of guy-makes-girl-laugh, but not the other way around. Let’s turn that on its head.
